Exactly.
Because that's the only way it can be played.
Case in point, if you should go into a local store and play the number 555 and marked the boxed portion of the slip the terminal would reject it because mathematically that's not possible. Hence the reason for such high payouts when someone wins on a straight bet.
Conversely if one should play a number "boxed" where all digits are different for example 629, there are six different ways in which the number can be played.....269, 296, 629, 692, 926, 962.
And for a number like say 577 there are only 3 ways those numbers could be combined or "wheeled"...775, 757, 577 hence, a much better payout compared to single digits "boxed" payout
Suffice it to say, that's the reason the payout odds are so high when a straight play is hit vs a box play.
